Due to Covid19 related safety measures, the technical meeting is being held online. From April 1 to April 3 the consortium is discussing the most recent advancements of the project in a number of teleconferences.

Dr. Derek Groen from the Hidalgo Consortium was a featured guest on the podcast "This Morning". Listen in and learn about the why's and how's of predicting refugee movement through simulations and the impact climate change is having on the refugee crisis. 

 

 

The HiDALGO plenary meeting and general assembly took place on November 6-7 at Know-Center in Graz. The project partners had ample discussions about the current progress of the project and the future work. It was a very productive meeting with a series of talks resulting in several new ideas.

We held the 1st Flee Workshop at the Adama Science and Technology University in Adama, Ethiopia on 16-18th of July 2019. The workshop had approximately 25 participants, and was largely funded through the Gesellschaft Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and HESC, the authority for Higher Education in Ethiopia.

Martin Maritsch and Kevin Winter (Area Knowledge Discovery) participated in a Student Challenge organized by the HiPEAC (European Network on High Performance and Embedded Architecture and Compilation) consortium. On the topic 'AI for Humanity', they submitted their work with the title 'Mining Call Detail Records to understand Cross-border Refugee Movements', which was accepted by the jury for presentation at the Computing Systems Week Spring 2019 in Edinburgh.
